How to check whether your insurance covers telehealth psychiatry in Florida.
Coverage depends on your plan. Not on the state, and not on the provider. There are two things to check, in this order. First, what your plan covers. Second, whether the provider is in network. This page walks through both, and tells you what to write down.

Start with the benefit, not the provider.
Find the member services number on the back of your insurance card. Call it. Ask for your outpatient behavioral health benefit. That is the category psychiatric care sits in. Plans often track it apart from your medical benefit.
Write down four things:
- Your deductible, and how much of it you have met this year.
- Your copay or coinsurance for an outpatient behavioral health visit.
- Whether telehealth is covered the same way as an office visit.
- Whether you need a referral or prior approval.
The last one causes the most trouble. Some plans want a referral for behavioral health even when they do not want one for other care.
Ask about telehealth by name.
Florida law treats telehealth as a way to deliver care. It is not a separate service. Your plan may still handle it its own way. Plans differ here more than people expect.
So ask a plain question: Is an outpatient behavioral health visit covered when it is done by video?
If they say yes, ask one more. Is the cost the same as an office visit? Florida does not make insurers pay the same rate for a video visit. So covered and covered the same are two different answers.
Then check the provider is in network.
A plan can cover telehealth psychiatry and still not cover the provider you picked. New Leaf Mental Health works with a set list of plans. It is on the insurance page, with the date it was last updated.
Do not treat that list as an answer for your own plan. Networks change. A provider can be in network for one plan and out of network for another, both sold by the same insurer. Verify your current coverage on Headway before you book.
See the cost before you book.
New Leaf works with Headway for scheduling, insurance checks, and billing. When you look up an appointment there, Headway shows what that visit is estimated to cost you.
That number is the one worth having. It uses your deductible and your cost sharing as they stand today. A general yes from member services does not.
If your plan does not cover it.
Paying out of pocket is a normal path here. The rates are published, not quoted on request. They are on the insurance page, with the date they were last confirmed.
